1. Introduction
ONPOINT ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information when you visit our website or use our desktop application.
2. Desktop Application
ONPOINT is a local-first application. Your notes, files, and all content you create are stored exclusively on your device. We do not have access to your content, and no data from the desktop application is transmitted to our servers.
The desktop application stores the following data locally on your machine:
- Your notes: stored as files in a local vault directory you choose.
- App preferences: window state, sidebar layout, keyboard shortcuts, and theme settings stored in the app's local configuration directory.
We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal information through the desktop application. There are no user accounts, no telemetry, and no crash reporting.
3. Website Analytics
Our marketing website (onpoint.sh) uses PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how visitors interact with our site. PostHog may collect:
- Usage data: pages visited, clicks, scroll depth, and referring URLs.
- Device data: browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and language preference.
- Approximate location: derived from your IP address (not precise geolocation). Your IP address is not stored in its full form.
This data is used solely to improve our website and understand aggregate usage patterns. We do not use this data to identify or profile individual visitors.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
Our website uses cookies set by PostHog for analytics purposes. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. We also use your browser's local storage to remember your theme preference (light or dark mode). No other tracking technologies are used.
5. Information We Do Not Collect
To be explicit, we do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
- Payment or financial data
- The content of your notes or files
- Precise geolocation data
- Data from the desktop application
6. Third-Party Services
We use PostHog (PostHog, Inc.) for website analytics. PostHog processes data on our behalf and is bound by their own privacy policy. We do not sell or share your data with any other third parties.
7. Data Retention
Analytics data collected through PostHog is retained for a limited period to identify trends and improve our website. We do not retain analytics data longer than necessary for these purposes.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Request access to any data we hold about you.
